Guys Gone Wild

February 8, 2010

Old man winter has been putting up a good fight here in our Garden State home. Fortunately for us though, we haven’t let him meddle too thoroughly with our plans.

Over the last couple of weeks, we have been getting our ducks in a row in preparation for the split 7″ with Berlin-based mOck. Tracking and mixing has been finished for this release, among others which will be announced soon.

Northeasterners have a chance to catch us perform this new material live in the coming weeks at one-off shows in Philadelphia, Brooklyn, and Long Island. Cast your sights to the right to learn more.

On top of that, we are very excited to announce our East Coast Spring Break (!!) tour dates with Sleep Bellum Sonno have all been confirmed as well…

3/12 New Brunswick NJ
3/13 Wilmington DE
3/14 Richmond VA
3/15 Wilmington NC
3/16 Rock Hill SC
3/17 Durham NC
3/18 Harrisonburg VA
3/19 Philadelphia PA
3/20 Brooklyn NY

See you there and square.

Decade

January 8, 2010

Happy New Year! Sorry we’re a little belated on the greeting, but when you party hard, sometimes you need a little recovery time, nahm sayin? Anyway, we’ve got some big news to ring in the new year (and decade), so now’s as good a time as any to let some trickle out and for you to take in.

The tracking and most of the mixing on four new tracks has been completed, and we are very much looking forward to letting these little demons out of Pandora’s box to run amok. Chumbuckets has done a superior job on recording these, so we can’t wait to unleash them. Plans for their release are still getting worked out, but to give you a clue in the meantime, we recommend you check out our friends from Berlin, mOck.

Also, we are currently booking a short tour of the East Coast for the month of March and looking forward to seeing old friends and places, and meeting new times and faces. Dates for this tour will be with Sleep Bellum Sonno, who are from that mystical isolated slip of land to the east of New York City. Details on the trip will be posted very, very soon, so keep vigil.

November Rain

November 12, 2009

This weekend we are joining our chum, Buckets (Brian Buckets of Risk Relay) in the recording studio as we drop the tracks for four new songs. We are excited to be getting some fresh new material documented for the first time in well over a year and plan on keeping you posted how and when we will be releasing this.

After this weekend, we are embarking on a weekend adventure over the Mason-Dixon line to bring our jams to southerly climes and friends. We will be sharing the carpet with bands like The Reptilian and The Fordists, among others. Hopefully we’ll be seeing you there.

And for those who couldn’t make it out to catch us perform some covers on Halloween, you can check out a clip here on Vimeo.

Courtesy of Look Again Media, who has contributed to the release of our debut full-length record, Machinery Saints now appears available for digital download in its entirety on the iTunes store. If you just can’t wait to get your hands on this record via mail order, you are now capable of instant digital gratification, so do it to it.

In other news, we are planning a good handful of shows for the coming months, a lot of which we will be with our buds Edhochuli (Pittsburgh), The Fordists (D.C.), and The Reptilian (Michigan).

Here’s some details on a full weekend of October that we’re booked:

10.22 – NEW BRUNSWICK NJ @ Jackie One w/ Constants, Meroki, Marloneisha
10.23 – BUFFALO NY @ 99 Custer St. w/ Edhochuli, Inerds, Ordinary Men and Women
10.24 – ENDICOTT NY @ The Death Trap w/ Smith Hill

For Halloween weekend, we will be performing around the NYC/NJ area with Edhochuli, and have a set of FUGAZI covers that we will be performing at these shows. We’ve been taking long extra hours practicing to make sure we do these songs justice and confidently stand by our opinion that we will get pretty damn close to it. Nuff said. Here are some details on that weekend:

10.29 – BROOKLYN NY @ The Charleston w/ Edhochuli
10.30 – NEW BRUNSWICK NJ @ Pet Cemetary (we play as FUGAZI) w/ Fun Ghouls (as The Misfits), Edhochuli, Mattress (as Dead Dead Kennedys)
10.31 – PHILADELPHIA PA @ The Ox (we play as FUGAZI) w/ Edhochuli

Buddy Fest +

September 10, 2009

In case you haven’t already heard, we just wanted to let you know that we’ve been honored with an invitation to play BUDDY FEST in Brooklyn this weekend, which is code for “Nakatomi Plaza’s last weekend as a band, so they’re going to play with like 12 – 20 other bands crammed into one awesome lineup”. It will be taking place throughout this upcoming weekend, so if you’d like to be regaled with all details, feel free to check out this article (among many) I found on the interweb: Buddy Fest. Do note, however, that we had to switch to an earlier spot to accomodate Cass’s family affairs and will now be playing at 2:45 PM.

We’ve also got some other killer shows lined up for the fall, including one in New Brunswick with Black Kites, Spires, and Pharaoh, which will be going down Sunday, Sept. 20th. Keep an eye on our shows page or myspace for details. Looks we’ll be heading out of state a little bit too.

Lots more reviews pouring in here, here, and also here.

Eat it up.

Also, for any curious parties, I’ll be filling in on bass for Bill Henderson’s new project Kill Wealthy Dowager for shows in Trenton NJ and Brooklyn (Buddy Fest) this weekend as well.

So now that we’re all getting back from our vacations, tours, whatever has been bringing us away from the New Brunswick area for the last month or so, we’ll be able to play a handful of shows in the NJ/NY metropolitan area to have fun and finish up the summer. Check out our Shows page for details as they come in as we hit up Long Island, the Trenton area, the Asbury Lanes, New Brunswick, and NYC with great bands like The Brass, Communipaw, Fierce Brosnan, and Nakatomi Plaza.

In the meantime, the reviews have been rolling in for our debut record. You can check out some of the nice things the residents of the internet have been saying about Machinery SaintsPunknews.Org, Fistfight at the Arthouse , GO211.

Nor’easter

June 16, 2009

When I return from a short venture in the Rockies next Wednesday, Cass will be picking me up at the New Brunswick train station, followed by the emptying of one suitcase and the filling of another backpack, a packing of the van, and a hitting of the road. Wha?

Rapid Cities is venturing to a handful of towns in the northeasterly part of the country next week. We will have copies of our new full length, Machinery Saints, available at these shows. Check out the dates on the right and if you’re around, rock out and schlock out with us.

Also, we’ve already got some new material and are looking at getting in the studio at some point this summer…

June Shows Lineup

June 8, 2009

We just want to say thanks to all who came out to the record release shows these last couple weekends in New Jersey and Brooklyn! They were a great success… We had a blast and hope you did too!

In case that wasn’t enough… we’ve got plenty more planned for the rest of the month with shows in New Brunswick, Jersey City, Burlington VT, Syracuse, and Harrisburg PA. Check our Shows page for details.

Also, Cass will be playing drums for Glad Hearts on their Northeast tour starting this weekend. They will be carrying copies of our record with them so be sure to check their tour dates to see if they’re swinging through your town.

Keep your eyes peeled for updates on distros and record stores as our full length, Machinery Saints, begins to find its way across the U.S. and beyond…

At long, long last Rapid Cities is finally able to announce the release of our first full length studio album!

These songs were written in 2006 & 2007, recorded in 2008, and are finally being released in the wonderful year of 2009. In other words, you can say that this effort has been about three years in the making. Therefore, it is with great pride that we announce that this record will finally be available to the masses by the end of this month, and we are planning some shows and parties to celebrate!

We have word from the plant that this record should be shipping to us on May 14th, arriving in time for these record release shows that we are planning for late May and early June.

The details are confirmed for our hometown soiree in New Brunswick on May 30. We will be playing with friends Disarmor, You Without Teeth, and Trinitron at a house that we call Death City (e-mail us if you need directions). Our CD’s will be available at a special “record release sale” price of $5 each at this show. They will be available for mail order from us directly or from Love/Hate Records and will be available for digital download via iTunes from Look Again Media.

Stay tuned for a NYC release show and other upcoming events.
